What You’ll Be Doing Welcome guests to your section, hand out menus and wine lists, and make sure everyone feels looked after from the moment they sit down. Know the menu inside out — including key ingredients and how dishes are prepared — so you can confidently answer questions and make recommendations. Set up and maintain tables — linen, cutlery, glassware — keeping everything neat and guest-ready throughout your shift. Take food and drink orders accurately using the POS system and ensure they reach the kitchen and bar promptly and correctly. Clear used crockery and cutlery between courses, offer desserts and coffee, and upsell where appropriate.
