Job Description

We are seeking a research scientist to work on the development of optical quantum memory platforms based on rare‑earth‑ion‑doped crystals, with an emphasis on achieving long storage times. The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following key tasks of the project:

• Perform extensive cryogenic optical experiments toward realising long‑lived quantum storage, using rare‑earth‑ion–doped solid‑state systems.
• Operate, maintain, and modify laser‑based quantum memory experimental platforms, including tunable lasers, frequency‑stabilised laser systems, optical modulators, cryogenic setups, and magnetic‑field control.
• Implement and optimise quantum memory protocols relevant to long storage times, including coherence‑preserving techniques using radio frequency pulses.
