Position Overview

Brooks Acute Care is a 28-bed unit that provides care for Medical/Surgical/Obstetrical and Maternity patients received from the ER, regional/tertiary facilities, and directly from home. This environment is suitable for a Registered Nurse who has recent medical, surgical, and/or maternity experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides secure and effective nursing care in accordance with AHS policies and best practice standards.
• Coordinates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families.
• Utilizes nursing processes, critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving skills to coordinate care, teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and families.
• Observes, monitors, reports, and documents changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional states.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities periodically after establishment on the unit.
