Responsibilities

• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Prime dialyzer and bloodlines.
• Oversee dialysis treatment from start to finish.
• Cannulate accesses.
• Clean and dress permanent and temporary catheters.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients and interpret and record information.
• Identify irregular dialysis reactions and notify appropriate medical team members.
• Secure blood work.
• Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness, explaining post‑treatment home care needs, diet, nutrition and exercise programs, and self‑administration of medications when needed.
