Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) – Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS)
Location: Gloucester Crown Court, GL1 2TS
Work Hours: 35 hours per week; shifts 24/6, early and late, flexible, potential extra hours. Part‑time possible only on full days.
Salary: £24,596 (35hrs/w) rising to £25,555 from 1 September 2026. Annual progression: Year 2 £26,191; Year 3 £26,684; Year 4 £27,180.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort detainees within the court premises, including courtrooms, cells, facilities, and toilets.
- Supervise detainees during hearings, ensuring safety and security.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ensure detainee welfare: access to food, drink, and wellbeing checks.
- Monitor behaviour and respond to incidents or risks.
