Part-Time Faculty: MMI 510: Starting Your Creative Freelance Business (Fall 2026)

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach MMI 510 Starting Your Creative Freelance Business during the Fall 2026 semester (1 credit). This class meets in person for five weeks on Thursdays 6:30pm-9:15pm November 5th-December 3rd with a final meeting the week of Dec. 7th TBD.

Course Description: This five-week class prepares students to consider and start a creative freelance business. Typically, these ventures are in graphic design, writing, photography, video and audio production, branding, marketing, publicity, talent representation, and creative content creation of all types. Most of these types traditionally provide services and sell business-to-business (B2B), but with the emergence of the Creator Economy and direct-to-consumer digital channels, freelancers can also sell to consumers.
