2. PhD qualified in relevant subject (thesis must be awarded by start date)
3. Thesis submitted by start of application process
4. Demonstration of understanding and commitment to an academic career
5. Evidence of team working skills
6. Demonstration of the potential for scientific independence **Desirable criteria** 1. Evidence of strong publication record
2. Evidence of presentations at national/international conferences
3. Experience of grant applications and administration
