Compensation

Base Salary: $141,208 - $149,277 per year. COLA: $480 bi‑weekly.

General Description

Municipal Legal Counsel acts as a legal advisor for the Municipality, providing legal services and support to all parts of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide general legal support on a variety of matters, including civil litigation, enforcement, taxation, planning and development, and general counsel matters.
• Research and draft legal opinions, contracts, bylaws, stop orders, and other documents affecting municipal operations.
• Advise on legislative changes and provide legal updates on matters impacting municipal operations and governance.
• Coordinate with the Director of Legal Services, including attending meetings on the Director’s behalf.

Skills Requirements

• Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to express points of view logically and persuasively.
