Medical Technician

Summary This position is in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services to cover Ann Arbor Medical Center and rotate to the CBOC location such as Canton on a as needed basis. The Medical Technician serves as a phlebotomist in the clinical laboratory, bone marrow assistant for the clinician and specimen receiving and processing technician. Responsibilities This position routinely performs a variety of tasks such as specimen collection, processing, and testing. Initially he/she will be primarily involved in the support services of the laboratory. In this phase, basic clerical duties, accessing patient orders, specimen collection and processing for testing both within our laboratory and those referred to other laboratories will be the focus. As the employee gains experience and training, he/she will progress into the testing arena beginning with basic test systems (classified as waived or moderate complexity by CLIA standards).
