Job Description
School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for a Continuing, Twelve-Month, Forty (40) hour per week Mechanic position on Salt Spring Island.
The pay rate for this position is $44.78 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and pension plans. The successful candidate will be a member of CUPE 788.
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- BC or Interprovincial Trade Ticket in one or more of the following:
- Auto Mechanics
- Heavy‑Duty Mechanics
- Commercial Transport
- Valid BC Class 2 driver’s license
- Valid ICBC‑certified air brake endorsement
- Certification as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector
- Three years’ experience as a journeyperson mechanic
- Working knowledge of safe loading/lifting techniques
