DEPARTMENT: SERVICES-TRANSPORT
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To service and maintain Electric and Diesel Locomotives as per Rail Regulator Standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 Certificate (with Mathematics and Physical Science) NQF Level 4 is essential.
Electrical Fitter Trade Certificate (Red seal) is essential.
4-6 years previous working experience especially on 8E Electric locomotives.
UM10B(Class91) Diesel and U26C (Class 34-400) diesel would be an advantage.
Valid medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such certificate.
COMPETENCIES:
Must have a sound knowledge of electrical rotating machinery and their control circuits(High voltage and medium voltage)is essential.
Must have good knowledge of fault finding on electrical and mechanical equipment is essential.
Must have a good knowledge of brake systems and the ability to do brake tests.
