Responsibilities

• Intake duties: receive appeals daily, determine timeliness, assess good cause exceptions, identify legal issues, review complexity, ensure proper parties are named, and check for allegations of bias.
• Case preparation: gather additional evidence, call parties for information, determine hearing scheduling needs, conduct legal research, and prepare cases for hearing or summarize for possible resolution without a hearing.
• Legal writing: draft order opinions, legal orders, subpoenas, and other court documents.
• Transcripts: prepare transcripts of hearings.
• Start‑up spirit: contribute to developing organization, processes, and systems for the new Paid Leave appeals program.
