Job Description
Responsibilities
Follows all procedures and policies and demonstrates competency and proficiency as required.
- Perform testing in all the sections of the laboratory including Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, and Blood Banking.
- Collect specimens: verify the identity of the patient and label all samples according to established procedures; obtain blood specimens by skin puncture or venipuncture using appropriate technique; maintain integrity of specimens; collect and prepare body fluid specimens for testing.
- Respond appropriately to results with STAT, call results, patient waiting or timed specimens, and notify physicians of critical lab values with complete documentation.
- Review pending and outstanding reports on each shift and follow up to resolve outstanding specimens.
- Segregate and pack outsourced lab specimens according to requirements on a timely basis.
