The Rhodes African Studies Centre invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team on a contract post of 2 years. The Centre is an inter‑faculty research Centre of Excellence located in the Faculty of Humanities at Rhodes University and is part of the Africa Multiple initiative.

Main Objectives

Research is the primary focus; teaching is not a core function. Researchers on contract are expected to raise funds for their employment and conduct contract research that is equivalent to traditional research.

• PhD in Environmental Sciences, Physical Geography, Ecology, Climatology, Hydrology, Water Resource Science, Political Ecology, Environmental Humanities, Environmental Education and Learning, or related fields.
