Ratherthanmovinghomelessindividualsthroughdifferentlevelsofhousing,HousingFirstmoves thehomelessindividualorhouseholdimmediatelyfromthestreetsorhomelesssheltersintotheir ownapartments.Clientswilllikelypresentwithcomplexandcompoundinghealth-relatedconcerns.
Typicaldemographicswillhave a seriousmentalillnessthatisoftenaccompaniedbysubstanceabuse, historyofinvolvementinthecriminaljusticesystemandchronicphysicalillness.Amulti-disciplinary andteamprovidesaservicethatisbasedonintensivecasemanagementandassertiveoutreach.
