Overview
Department of Internal Affairs (Te Tari Taiwhenua) delivers services and outcomes to all New Zealanders. The Communications Group works across programme communications, media relations, and support for official visits and events. The role leads this group, advising the Secretary of Internal Affairs and the Executive Leadership Team on strategic communications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Department’s communications strategy, ensuring a cohesive internal and external approach.
- Advise on strategic issues and support key initiatives of the Secretary.
- Lead a team of communications professionals and manage a broad portfolio from major programmes to media and high‑profile events.
- Deliver high‑quality strategic communications advice and maintain the Department’s profile.
