Freshwater Aquaculture Technician – Oak Bay Hatchery
Responsibilities
- Assist other aquaculture technicians in the operation of fish hatcheries.
- Brood stock production and handling spawning, egg and fry production.
- Attention to details.
- Ability to lift and carry brood fish.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to answer alarms.
- Willing to work varied or irregular shifts including weekends.
- Feed aquaculture stocks, vaccinate stocks, and perform culling.
- Operate, maintain, and clean pumps, filters, tanks and other aquaculture equipment.
- Keep daily records of water chemistry and oxygen.
- Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks.
- Handle chemicals with necessary PPE, including mandatory FIT testing (respirators).
