Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is currently looking for a highly motivated Environmental Health Technician to join our Post Irradiation Examinations (PIE) team in Niskayuna, NY! The PIE unit is responsible for performing nondestructive and destructive examinations in two facilities; the Radioactive Materials Laboratory (RML), and the KAPL Low Level Examination Facility. These facilities and their technical capabilities are unique in the Naval Nuclear Laboratory.

Testing in the RML primarily focuses on providing data to establish material performance correlations for reactor fuel, poison, and structural materials. The major testing evolutions are annealing irradiated specimens to failure and performing interim examinations including density measurements, ultrasonic examinations and visual examinations.
