Environmental Health Director - Municipal Veterinarian

The City of Kemijärvi manages the North Lapland Environmental Health Cooperation Area, which includes the municipalities of Pelkosenniemi, Savukoski, and Salla. The unit handles regional environmental protection tasks and is led by an Environmental Health Director – Municipal Veterinarian.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage the unit, allocating 40% of the time to management duties and 60% to practical veterinary work.
• Lead and develop unit activities under the authority of the city council, city manager, and committee.
• Supervise a small, agile team and conduct focus‑area adjustments as needed.
• Perform on‑call duties within a five‑veterinarian on‑call circle.
• Provide small‑animal dominated mixed practice, including reindeer work during fall and winter seasons.
