Position Summary

We are seeking a Social Worker to work in the Pediatric Ambulatory Care clinic for children with diabetes at McMaster Children’s Hospital. The primary focus of the position is pediatric diabetes ambulatory care with an emphasis on adolescent issues. Through in‑depth psychosocial assessments, the Social Worker will identify child and family strengths, stressors, problem‑solving abilities, dynamics, interactions, attitudes, feelings and cultural issues in relation to youth living with diabetes. The Social Worker will work collaboratively with the team to perform interdisciplinary assessments aimed at developing and implementing a plan of intervention that addresses education, coping and the management of the burden of treatment.
