About the role

School governors are volunteers who work as part of a team to support the strategic leadership of the school. Governors do not run the school day to day – that is the responsibility of the Headteacher and staff – but they play a vital role in ensuring that every child receives the best possible education.

As a co-opted governor, you will:

• Contribute to setting the vision, ethos, and strategic direction of the school.

• Hold leaders to account for the educational performance of pupils and the effective management of staff.

• Oversee the school’s financial performance and ensure resources are used well.
