Chief Physician, Orthogeriatric Ward, Hatanpää Campus Hospital

At the 22-bed orthogeriatric ward at Hatanpää, we primarily care for elderly trauma patients who arrive either from emergency services or after fracture surgery. Each patient undergoes a comprehensive geriatric assessment. Most patients are discharged directly from the ward, and treatment periods are usually short. Longer rehabilitation is provided if necessary on follow-up rehabilitation wards. The ward is staffed by a geriatrician and two resident doctors. Our operations are based on close multidisciplinary collaboration, and the role of the geriatrician is diverse. The position offers an opportunity to utilize broad geriatric expertise. All geriatric wards at Hatanpää Campus Hospital are led by a geriatrician. Hatanpää is one of the most significant centers of geriatric expertise in Pirkanmaa.
