Cast Technician for Medcare Orthopedics and Spine Hospital (Br)

Job Description

• Applies casts using a variety of materials, including plaster, synthetic casting materials, and high- and low-temperature plastics, with minimal or no supervision.
• Applies appropriate cast/splint per physician order using appropriate casting/splint material with the body in the appropriate position.
• Shapes cast to ensure maximum comfort and prevent unnecessary pressure.
• Trims and remodels cast to ensure comfort and fit, using cast knife, cast cutter, and cast spreader to remove parts of the cast and enlarge it to decrease pressure in swollen areas.
• Performs appropriate documentation and patient education related to cast or splinting as directed by Physician or Registered Nurse.
• Performs casting for diabetic ulcers.
• Assists in Outpatient Clinic, Operating Theatre, Inpatient Units, and Emergency Room.
