Cardiovascular Perfusionist

About the Role

The Cardiovascular Perfusionist functions in a highly specialized pediatric environment. In this role, the Cardiovascular Perfusionist contributes to clinical, education and research practices in perfusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide extracorporeal life support to patients requiring cardiopulmonary bypass, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), or ventricular assist devices.
• Provide temporary support of cardiac and/or respiratory systems in critical‑care settings.
• Participate in inter‑hospital ECMO initiation and transportation of patients supported on ECMO.
• Act as a perfusion resource and provide clinical support to non‑cardiac service areas, including orthopaedic and general surgery.
• Integrate new knowledge and research into clinical practice in collaboration with the interdisciplinary health‑care team.
