Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Neurosciences Step-Down Unit will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients with acute stroke and general neurological conditions requiring intermediate (step-down) level monitoring. The APP obtains relevant medical histories, performs detailed neurological and physical examinations, reviews and interprets diagnostic studies, develops differential diagnoses, and implements individualized treatment plans, including ordering tests and prescribing therapies consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging. Working closely with the stroke, general neurology, and neurocritical care teams, the APP coordinates care across the continuum to ensure timely escalation or transition of care as patient needs evolve.
